18G1.5 18-Core 1.5mm² Control Cable
Complex automation projects stall because of one unreliable signal cable. Intermittent faults in a 18-core bundle waste hours of diagnostic time on site. Our 18G1.5 control cable is engineered to remove that variable. It delivers stable signal transmission in high-density wiring environments. Lower commissioning costs. Fewer callbacks.
Conductor Construction and Long-Term Reliability
Plain annealed copper, Class 5 flexibility.
Stranded bare copper conductors to IEC 60228. Fine wire construction resists work-hardening fractures during repeated flex cycles. This means the cable survives continuous motion in cable chains and pendant controls without internal breaks. Maintenance teams see a measurable drop in intermittent open-circuit faults over a 5-year equipment lifecycle.
18 numbered cores, black with white inkjet numbering.
Each of the 18 conductors carries a durable printed number. No adhesive tape markers that peel off in hot cabinets. Rapid termination identification cuts panel wiring time. Wiring errors drop. Your assembly throughput improves by eliminating the step of ringing out unmarked conductors.
1.5mm² cross-sectional area.
Optimized conductor gauge for 24V DC control signals and low-current actuator power over moderate distances. Sufficient ampacity per core without adding unnecessary weight or diameter to the cable bundle. The result is a cable that fits standard M25 cable glands while still driving solenoid banks and indicator lamps without voltage sag.
Insulation System Built for Control Cabinets
PVC insulation type TI3 to VDE 0207.
Temperature rating of 70°C continuous, with short-circuit temperature limit of 160°C. The compound resists the mineral oils and cutting fluids common in machining centers and hydraulic press rooms. Insulation integrity holds long after standard building wire would become brittle. Panel builders reduce warranty claims from insulation breakdown in aggressive atmospheres.
Outer sheath: PVC type TM2, black.
Flame retardant to IEC 60332-1-2. The jacket will not propagate fire vertically in a cable tray. Low-smoke characteristics improve visibility during an evacuation event inside a switchgear room. This single design choice helps the facility meet its local electrical safety code without specifying a separate fire-rated cable run.

Installed Environments
- Machine tool control panels. Connects PLC I/O modules to relay banks, contactors, and indicator lamps inside the gantry enclosure. The numbered cores remove ambiguity during panel integration.
- Conveyor and material handling lines. Carries start/stop signals, position sensor data, and emergency-stop circuit monitoring across hundreds of meters of tray work. The 1.5mm² gauge provides enough copper for long-loop resistance requirements without a separate signal booster.
- Water and wastewater treatment plants. Installed between motor control centers and field instruments inside weather-protected cabinets. The PVC sheath resists the high-humidity, hydrogen-sulfide-laden atmosphere inside a pump station building.
- HVAC building management systems. Links DDC controllers to damper actuators, temperature sensors, and chilled water valve positioners. 18 cores let one cable serve an entire air handling unit’s control panel with spare capacity for future expansion.
- Packaging and bottling machinery. Routes through flexible cable tracks on a pick-and-place robot cell. Class 5 flexible conductors withstand the aggressive acceleration profiles of high-speed packaging lines without conductor fatigue.

Frequently Asked Questions
We use 1.0mm² for signal wiring. Is the jump to 1.5mm² worth the added diameter for a 18-core cable?
That depends on your loop length and the relay coil inrush current. A 1.5mm² conductor drops roughly 12 mV per meter per amp at 20°C. Over a 150-meter run with 18 cores energized, that difference can prevent a contactor chatter issue that a 1.0mm² cable would introduce. If your panel is 10 meters from the load, 1.0mm² is fine. For the plant floor, the 1.5mm² provides headroom that avoids a costly control transformer tap change later. The outer diameter penalty is around 2 mm. Negligible in a cable ladder.
Can you supply this cable with color-coded cores instead of numbered black cores?
It is a custom option, not a line item. Black cores with white numbering is our standard for inventory efficiency — one SKU, instant availability. For color coding (HD 308 S2 or custom), we require a minimum order quantity. Detailed technical approval drawings are issued before production begins. Factor in a 10-day lead time for the first color-coded batch. Once tooled, reorders ship alongside standard stock.
What documentation do you include with a bulk reel shipment?
Every reel leaves with a routine test certificate recording conductor resistance, insulation resistance at 500V DC, and the 4kV high-voltage acceptance test. The certificate references the batch number traceable to the raw material lot. For projects requiring a full material declaration or a conflict minerals report, request it with the RFQ. We hold the supply chain paperwork on file before copper is ever drawn.
