Installation Tips (Read this to save time)
Even the best cable fails if installed wrong. Follow these simple rules:
- Ground the Shield: You MUST ground the shield. Connect the drain wire to a proper earth ground at ONE end (or both ends for high frequency, but usually one end is safer to avoid ground loops). If you don’t ground it, the shield acts like an antenna and makes noise worse.
- Don’t Kink: Pull the cable smoothly. Don’t drag it over sharp metal edges. Use cable ties with rounded edges.
- Respect Bend Radius: Don’t bend the cable tighter than 6 times its diameter. If you bend it too sharp, you change the impedance and break the conductor.
- Keep Away from Power Lines: Even with shielding, keep data cables at least 30cm away from high-voltage power lines if possible.
